Dartfish Snapshots of Video Analysis

September 21, 2009

Here we are looking at how close the hip joint is to the foot stretcher, as well as
the position of the spine.  From a flexibility standpoint we want the hips to get as close to the foot stretchers as possible to allow for maximum horizontal travel.   We want the spine to be in a solid upright position.

Here we are looking at body suspension and spine angle.  With a reflective marker on the athlete’s hip we can see if there is actual suspension of the body on the drive by measuring elevation off of the seat.  We can also look to see if the rower has a good spine position during the drive.  Here we see the spine relatively flat which is good.

The above pictures are just snaphots of keypoints from a Dartfish Mediabooks  I have produced to demonstrate the power of video analysis of rowing technique.  Please contact Coach Kaehler to receive a sample Dartfish Mediabook .
